About Burdock Root
 
Internally, Burdock is great support for the liver and kidneys.  It has significant blood purifying properties. Traditionally taken internally for staph infections, impetigo and other skin infections such as: psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis. Also acts as a diuretic, antibacterial and has been studied for its effect on blood sugar regulation. The roots contain Inulin, a precursor to Insulin for diabetics to stablilize their blood sugar.  Can be used to treat eczema and other skin ailments internally and externally.   The root is steamed, stir-fried and cooked into stews. It also makes a tasty herbal vinegar.  Medical evidence supports use of Burdock for tumors and it is one of four herbs in the Essiac anti-cancer formula.
